September 2017 Manager's Report

MANAGER SEARCH
The Manager Contract, which was approved by Council, was signed by the Village President and the Village Clerk and forwarded to Deboria Powell for her signature. The signed Contract is expected to be returned prior to the September 25th Council meeting.
OFFICE STAFF
The Staff has been involved in preparatory work for 11 meetings since the August 28th Council meeting. They have completed the collection of Village taxes and continue with their regular duties.
POLICE DEPARTMENT
The Chief says the Department is doing well and continues to be very busy.
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
The crew continues to be busy with their routine summer work which includes sewer cleaning, sweeping streets, patching streets, picking up brush, equipment maintenance and the mowing of the village parks and village owned properties.
They have also replaced a number of water leads and installed new water leads this past month.
Union negotiations continue.
PROJECTS
Beechwood paving – Completed June 15th.
Asset Management Plan – To be completed by January 1, 2018.
South Seeger Water and Sewer Crossings – Scheduled for spring of 2018.
North and South Seeger Paving Projects – Task Force 7A will hold a meeting in November for the scheduling of Proposed Projects. Estimated cost $460,848.31.
The estimated Village portion is $163,000.00.
PARKS
The park buildings and grounds are being maintained.
There was a fire in the bathrooms in the building next to the basketball courts. We are presently seeking repair estimates. The Village insurance company is waiting for the estimates before any payout for the repair.
WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT
The plant is meeting all the required limits. The new switchgear is now installed
And is now being tested.
BUILDING AND ZONING PERMITS
Twenty two permits have been issued for Cass City from January 1, 2017 through
September 21, 2017.
