The Village of Cass City is a General Law Village with a Council-Manager form of government. The council is a legislative body, focusing on the community's goals, long-term plans for growth, land use development and strategic planning. The council hires a professional manager to carry out the administrative responsibilities.

Five departments answer to the Village Manager for day to day operations.

The Clerk/Treasurer records Village meetings, maintains fiscal records, collects taxes, acts as a National Passport Agency Agent, and preserves all other records of the municipality.

The Police Department ensures the safety and well being of the community 24/7/365.

The Department of Public Works maintains M-81 and all Village streets, as well as all water, sewer, and storm water lines. The crew proudly works to keep the streets and community clear and beautiful.

The Waste Water Treatment Department maintains a facility in the southern part of the Village to properly dispose of waste.

The Parks and Recreation Department includes the Helen Stevens Memorial Pool, the Arts and Crafts building, softball leagues, and many field trips. Cass City is fortunate to have a superb park system and recreational programs for all ages and interests.
